The Acid Test

Type how you'd describe your company to a stranger, and this quick one-sentence test shows you whether your brand pulls its weight in the market or just hides behind jargon.

Not a party trick. This test runs on the same IP and methods we use in actual client work, minus the three-week invoice.

That's a start, not a sentence. Try the whole thought.

  • Buzzword density — the words the market can't repeat back.
  • Readability — whether a stranger parses it on the first pass.
  • Concreteness — real nouns beat abstract ones.
  • Anchor — who it's for and what it replaces.

On the work.

Most of our work sits under confidentiality, as is typical for engagements at the strategic layer. We do not usually publish case studies of strategy work that is still active in market.

A visual overview of selected work is available on the showcase deck along with an introduction on how we work.

Services

Four ways in.

No packages, no tiered menus. Every engagement is shaped in conversation — these are the shapes we recognise most often.

01Discipline

Brand Strategy

A company that can't explain itself gets explained by its competitors.

The position at the heart of the company, made explicit — conviction, values, audience, and where the brand sits in its category and the market beyond it.

02Discipline

Narrative, Language & Messaging

The words are the strategy, worn in public.

The central narrative, messaging architecture, and voice — the system of language through which the company speaks to every audience it has. Product and category naming.

03Discipline

Creative Direction & Identity

Strategy that never becomes visible was just a conversation.

Visual identity systems, brand guidelines, and creative direction across every surface where the brand appears. Founder and fundraise decks. Executive keynote architecture. Launch assets.

Brand Audit, via Groundwork

Before the prescription, the diagnosis.

A six-dimension read of where the brand actually stands — Conviction, Principles, Voice, Expression, Behaviour, Proof — delivered as a facilitated engagement and a standalone report. Used at inflection points, and as the basis on which deeper engagements are scoped.

Six questions, one per dimension. Yes, Partly, or No.

  • 01 · ConvictionCould every employee state what the company believes?
  • 02 · PrinciplesDo your decisions follow stated principles, or precedent?
  • 03 · VoiceDoes the website sound like the founder?
  • 04 · ExpressionWould you recognize your brand from a cropped corner of one slide?
  • 05 · BehaviourDoes the company act the way the brand talks?
  • 06 · ProofCan every claim you make be backed on request?

The outer ring is a brand that holds together on every dimension. Where your shape dips is where the work is. A small shape isn't a bad brand; it's an unarticulated one.

The shallow version takes thirty seconds. The real one takes three weeks.

Fit

We are not for everyone.

Don't call us if
  • You need a logo by Friday.
  • Brand is a line item in a procurement sheet.
  • "Just make it pop."
  • The deck is due tomorrow and it was due last week.
  • You'd like six juniors on a Slack channel.

Great studios exist for this. We are, by design, not one of them.

Do call us when
  • The questions have become structural.
  • The company has outgrown its own explanation.
  • Founder instinct no longer scales into every room.
  • What you are and what you say have started to drift.
  • You want judgement, not throughput.

Proximity, candour, time — from both sides. Our favourite kind of clients.

We take on a small number of engagements at a time. We're deliberate about which. Sometimes annoyingly so.

Their words, not ours.

The questions that come up every time

Rarely. Our engagements are structural — positioning, narrative, identity systems, category work. If you need a logo by Friday or a single deck refreshed, we're likely not the right studio. We can recommend people who are.

A direct conversation with Payal. No intake forms, no discovery-call choreography. If it looks like a fit on both sides, we scope the work together over one or two follow-ups.

Brand strategy and identity work usually runs eight to sixteen weeks. Positioning sprints are shorter. Longer partnerships, where DDC functions as a fractional brand office, run in quarterly cycles.

Yes. Most of our work sits under confidentiality, which is why we don't publish case studies of active engagements. A showcase deck is available on request for context.

Headquartered in Bengaluru, working remotely across time zones. We travel for the moments where being in the room matters — kickoffs, leadership offsites, launch prep.

It varies, engagement to engagement — and it is the second conversation, not the first. The first conversation is about value: what the work needs to move — a raise, a category entry, a repositioning — and what it is worth to the company to move it. Scope and fee follow from that. Founders looking for a rate card are usually better served by a different kind of studio, and we say so.

Deliberately deconstructed. Payal leads the strategy and creative direction on every engagement. Around that core, collaborators are brought on from a curated senior network depending on the expertise the work calls for — service design, product design, visual identity, engineering. No bench, no juniors learning on your budget, no account management, no layers between you and the people doing the work. The studio stays small by design; the work scales by selection.
